TouchGeneral Information

Season: Summer (Terms 1 & 4)

Day(s): Wednesday afternoons

  1. The School Sport Canterbury Touch competition starts at 3.15pm and is played at school fields or North Hagley Park. 20 minutes each way.
  2. Each team to provide a referee for the game.
  3. Students will be allowed to choose their own team, but we may add other students, so they do not miss out on playing
  4. If you do not have a full team or anyone you would like to be with, we will endeavour to place you in a team.

If for some reason, there is not enough players for a team to be entered into the competition, students will receive a refund. If a student withdraws once the team has been entered into the competition, a refund of sports fees will be at the discretion of the Sports Department, and an administration fee may be applied. If sports fees are owing from previous years, these will need to be cleared before playing sport in 2026.鈥嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌嬧赌

Requirements:

  1. PE uniform
  2. Touch shoes or sport shoes will be required.
  3. Transport home is by own arrangements

Cost: For 2026, the School Sport Canterbury Touch competition is $60 - includes transport to the venue only.

Training: Training is at the discretion of the team and/if they have a coach involved.

Premier Mixed Touch Team

The LHS Mixed Touch team (The Turtles) are a high-performance team who play at Canterbury (November) South Island (March) and NZSS Touch Nationals (December) tournaments. Trials are held in February and again in late Term 3. 

It is expected that players commit to training: Tuesday & Friday mornings at 6:50am. Thursday at 3pm. games are organised against other schools and invitational teams when possible.

The New Zealand Secondary Schools Touch Nationals is held in December of each year. This is an elite tournament involving a high standard of touch. This is a four day event typically held in the North Island. Cost is around $1500.
